I was brought on to help Chamberlain transform their image from an old-school hardware company (think plain old garage door openers you buy once every 15 years) to an exciting tech brand with the latest and greatest in smart home advancements. I had a blast tackling the challenge of making garages cool—and getting folks to think about this underutilized space as an action-packed hub of the home.

Amazon Key IN-GARAGE DELIVERY
Chamberlain and myQ partnered with Amazon to help homeowners outsmart porch pirates and protect packages from bad weather with In-Garage Delivery. In writing copy for Amazon, I worked to instill trust in Amazon drivers who scan your package with a one-time code, securely open your linked garage, and leave your orders safely inside.
Amazon Key reached 50 million deliveries in June 2023—and I leveraged this popularity in the copy to show how widely used and trusted this service is.

TESLA + MYQ CONNECTED GARAGE
Coming and going from home is seamless when you pair your Tesla with your myQ Connected Garage.
I was lead copywriter for partner work with Tesla (as well as Nissan) launching the Tesla + myQ Connected Garage program, which lets drivers monitor, open, and close their garage easily from their Tesla’s touchscreen.
Drivers can also set a custom distance at which their garage will auto-open upon arriving home using the geofencing feature—no need to reach for a remote or your phone.

CONCEPTUAL PITCHES
The Chamberlain creative team is well aware that garages aren’t the sexiest topic—so, the writers and designers spent weeks brainstorming fresh campaign ideas to make the idea of the garage cooler and show how the space is actually an essential part of the home.
The ideas I presented to the Creative Director and Art Director revolved around the garage being where all the real action happens, framing Amazon In-Garage Delivery drivers as trusted superheroes braving the elements, and tapping into the rage you feel when one of your packages is stolen (enter In-Garage Delivery).
SEASONAL promos
You can’t catch everything that happens in your garage in real-time, so myQ offers video history plans that save recordings from your smart garage camera for up to 7 or 30 days.
Every month myQ runs a promotion offering a discount on video storage plans to both current and potential myQ users, usually with a holiday tie-in, which always made concepting and headline-writing fun and a great place for a brain-tickling pun.
